The Alliance for Risk Management and Business Continuity (AGERCA) represents the private sector and civil society in the National Risk and Disaster Management System (SNGRD) and continues working in response to damages caused by the earthquake of August 14th which hit the southern peninsula of Haiti. Note that the National Emergency Operation Center (COUN) is part of the SNGRD.
This earthquake directly affected around 690,000 people, which represents 40% of the total population of the three affected departments (Grand’Anse, Nippes, and Sud).
In addition to mobilization efforts at the local level, AGERCA, together with its partner, the General Directorate of Civil Protection (DGPC), supports by coordinating response from members of the international community by facilitating the collection and transportation of humanitarian aid from the Haitian diaspora of the United States to Haiti free of charge from September 17th to 22nd, 2021.
Since the beginning of the response, AGERCA and DGPC have been working with the “ONE Diaspora” platform which brings together organizations from the Haitian diaspora for a better coordination of the response in times of emergency. We invite the diaspora community to work with a single diaspora platform for a better coordination and streamlining of the relief to the affected community.
AGERCA takes this opportunity to invite once again the entire Haitian Diaspora community in the United States in general to show solidarity with the victims of this earthquake. All donations can be delivered to the two SHIPPEX addresses below with an AGERCA / DGPC label. These donations will be distributed in the three departments under the coordination of AGERCA and the General Directorate of Civil Protection (DGPC).
